Carbon Neutral Approach offers green and sustainable concepts and design, project management & consulting services.

We are a Registered Member of the Green Building Council of South Africa and our members are Green Star SA Accredited Professionals.

Our goal at Carbon Neutral Approach is to complete projects of a high standard with the minimum Carbon Footprint. We believe that a smaller Carbon footprint will result in lower operational costs. By following a Carbon Neutral “Approach”, it will reduce the demand on resources, thereby having a positive impact on your bottom line.

We have experience in designing structures in very remote areas in countries in Southern, Central and East Africa which were required to be totally self-sufficient.

We have found that to retrofit a structure with renewable energies to improve the performance, will cost more than if the structure was designed with a Carbon Neutral “Approach”. A passive designed structure will be designed to allow for the maximum use of natural lighting, ventilation, insulation and building material that will limit the embodied energy in the material and reduce the energy need for improved comfort within the building.

The impact from renewable energies on the structure does not always justify the costs, whereas a passive design will have a greater impact on the overall cost and performance of the structure.

We also actively promote alternative building methods and design including a unique sandbag building method and assist with the design of these structures.

Sandbag building is a cost effective, environmentally friendly solution for lodges, staff accommodation, housing, community structures and structures requiring a high level of thermal efficiency.

We also offer rainwater harvesting technology and water conservation products, LED lighting, solar PV, solar thermal energy and wind turbine energy generators, waterless sanitation and waste management solutions. These can compliment the passive designed structures or can be retrofitted to existing infrastructure.
